Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, President Trump’s two cabinet secretaries, are leaving office over the Wednesday mob at the United States Capitol. They were among those Cabinet allies who decided to resign office in the wake of a riot of President Trump followers attacking the U.S. Capitol.

In a declaration, she spoke to the agency she led, Elaine Chao, described that she will quit Monday and was ‘deeply troubled’ by the happenings at the U.S. Capitol. The declaration further described that she is tremendously proud of the several accomplishments they were able to achieve together for their nation, and she will never forget the commitment you have for this Department and the U.S.

She continued that she will prefer Pete Buttigieg (the Transportation Secretary-designate) to take the department. Moreover, she tweeted Thursday that it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the United States of Transportation.

What would children get from this incident?

On Thursday, DeVos pushed a resignation letter to President Trump, mentioning Wednesday’s mob as ‘unconscionable for our country.’ Chao wrote that there is no mistaking the impact our rhetoric had on the condition, and that’s the inflection point for her. She further explained that impressionable kids are watching all of this, and they are learning from us all. She believes they have a moral obligation to practice good judgment and model the behavior we hope they would emulate.
