The Ukrainian authorities claimed that Russia had increased its forces around the destroyed city of Bakhmut and eastern Ukraine and had shifted its fighting mode from defensive to offensive. Kyiv says they are prepared to repel the enemy. Kremlin forces captured Bakhmut, a big city in Ukraine, after a long and deadliest fight of the last 20 months of war since February last year. Both sides struggled and lost thousands of soldiers to get complete control of this city, but around May this year, Russian troops succeeded in occupying the city. Now, Ukraine claims that Russia has been boosting its forces near the city of Bakhmut.

Ukraine’s commander of ground forces, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, wrote on Telegram and said their opponent, the Kremlin, has made its position much more strong and switched its planning from defensive to attacking. Ukraine had prepared for months to launch a counteroffensive against the enemy. It grabbed significant aid from many of its allies and launched the counterstrike after the Kremlin got full control of Bakhmut city and more areas. The counter-actions taken by Kyiv were considered to achieve big on the battleground but failed in achieving the desired or anticipated results as Russian forces are fighting much harder. Kyiv’s officials repeatedly said the fight was not easy, but they claimed to be making small but consistent progress in getting the lost land back.

Head of Ukrainian communications for their ground forces, Volodymyr Fityo, said Russian troops had been preparing since the beginning of this month. He added the enemy was preparing to reoccupy the land that Ukraine freed during the counteroffensive. Ukraine made little progress but failed to do something big even after getting billions of dollars of aid.

Ukraine Still Offensive Near Bakhmut

Fityo said they were not surprised by the news, and knew about the enemy’s positions and strategies, and had been planning to strengthen their defensive position. He added the Ukrainian forces were taking steps to gear up and refill the stockpiles to aggressively fight against the enemy. Kyiv officials said Russia was specifically seen active near the Ukrainian-held town of Kupyansk in the northeast, where they said the Kremlin had a numerical superiority. Ukrainian General Staff said their forces remained offensive near Bakhmut areas.

General Staff added the Russian forces tried to restore their positions on the land, lost near Bakhmut city, and recaptured by Kyiv troops in September. Furthermore, he said Moscow’s armies had tried to advance in Synkivka but failed to make any progress. Russia has been struggling to surround and capture Avdiivka, a strategic town southwest of Bakhmut, for the last few weeks.

US Allies Send Massive Aid To Ukraine

America has remained the most significant military aid donor to Ukraine since the war started last year. The large amount of aid sent to Ukraine included:

  • Ammunition
  • Tanks
  • Howitzers
  • Drones
  • Rifles
  • Advanced defense system
  • Helicopters
  • Anti-armor system
  • Anti-aircraft system
  • Tactical vehicles to recover equipment
  • Radar systems
  • HIMARS systems & its ammunition

A lot more equipment is sent, and much is on its way. US President Biden has recently called to pass more aid for Ukraine. Germany is also one of the significant donors to Ukraine. It has sent massive artillery and advanced Tanks To Kyiv and pledged to send more. Some of Kyivv’s allies have promised to send fighter jets and to train its pilots to help win the fight against the Kremlin.

Biden has repeatedly said they would not leave Ukraine alone in its war against a massive giant, Russia. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was recently on his visit to America to request more aid and met President Biden. He asked to make a speech in the US House of Representatives but was not permitted. There is some opposition within American politics against the huge US aid to Kyiv. The majority of Republicans oppose more aid to Ukraine, saying it already has received a lot.
