It is reported that a late-night air raid has hit multiple cities and regions of Ukraine, two people were killed and five others injured. Borys Filatov, Mayor of Dnipro, stated a woman and a three years old kid were killed in the air attacks early Friday. A video of an apartment block in Uman, a Ukrainian city in Cherkasy oblast, was shared on social media showing the smoke rising from buildings. The footage reveals the corner of a building collapsed to the ground.
The Governor of Cherkasy, Mr. Ihor Taburates, stated rescue services had reached the damaged regions and taken five people to the hospital. Mr. Taburates wrote on Telegram that Uman city had been hit by two Cruis missiles, and a residential and a warehouse building were damaged. He further said air alert continued, and the damage to the previous attacks is being assessed. A Ukrainian news agency reported that blasts were also heard by Kremenchuk and Poltava in central Ukraine.
After the attacks, no casualties and damage were reported in the capital Kyiv, and its officials claimed their defense line had destroyed 11 cruise missiles and two drones. The air raids that hit Ukraine are for the first time in months, and Moscow armies are constantly trying to conquer Bakhmut city, for which Russia and Ukraine have lost thousands of troops. It is also highlighted for weeks that Kyiv has been preparing for a big move to regain all of its Moscow-occupied cities and areas by fighting back against Russians with much force.
Ukraine is Getting Aid from NATO
A phone call also happened between the Ukraine President, Mr. Zelenskyy, and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, and it was their first direct talk since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. President Xi said China would always stand with peace and try to resolve disputes through talks. Beijing is trying to act as a negotiator between the two countries at war. China declared 12 points peace agenda for Ukraine and a ceasefire after the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Furthermore, around 1550 armored vehicles and 230 tanks from NATO allies have approached Ukraine as military aid to help President Zelenskyy fight Russians and regain the lost cities. As Ukraine has been preparing itself for a counteroffensive against Russia, NATO claimed Kyiv had received about 98% of the military vehicles promised to Ukraine. Stoltenberg further said they had trained more than nine new Kyiv armored battalions that would change Ukraine’s position in the war. He emphasized Ukraine is supplied with significant military aid, but they should never underestimate Kremlin.
Around 30000 troops are to make up new battalions, and a large amount of ammunition has been supplied to Kyiv by allied nations. Some countries have also provided armored vehicles and other military equipment like anti-aircraft missiles and Soviet-built MiG-29 fighter jets.
