On Wednesday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, summoned remembrances of the 9/11 (Sept. 11, 2001) and Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941) attacks in an emotional live-video request to U.S. Congressional members to deliver more support for Ukrainians in the battle of their survival against Putin’s military assault. The US legislators stood and much-admired, and the President of America later declared the United States is sending additional military assistance, including drones, anti-armor, and anti-air systems.
The Ukrainian leader has also requested Congress to create a no-flight zone over Ukraine and more sanctions in his pubic plea for assistance as Moscow continues its air and ground attacks that have taken the lives of thousands and compelled over 3M refugees to flee Ukraine into East European states.
During addressing the US lawmakers from Kyiv, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian forces and people need them right now; he calls on them to ‘do more.’ He thanked Americans for the military and economic support already presented and commended the US leader for his personal participation for his genuine commitment to Ukraine’s defense and democracy across the globe.
Furthermore, Joe Biden branded Vladimir Putin ‘a war criminal’ – his robust condemnations yet – the day after the United States Senate solidly asked for an international probe of Russian President for ‘war crimes’ in the post-Soviet state. In a moment of high excitement at the United States Capitol, the Ukrainian leader live-streamed his address to a highly interested audience of legislators on the big screen, accepting from the beginning that the air exclusion zone he has recurrently sought to ‘ban the sky’ to air attacks on Ukraine might not happen.

But Joe Biden has refused that and approval for the Western military alliance or America to deliver MiG fighter planes from the Polish government as risking broader conflict with nuclear-armed Putin’s Russia. Instead, the President of Ukraine emotionally asked for more military assistance and more severe economic consequences on Russians to halt the aggression with the fate of his state at stake.
Close to the 3-weeks mark in an ever-intensifying conflict, Zelenskyy has used the international stage to plead with allied leaders to help avert Russia’s large-scale incursion of its neighbor. About 3M people have left the country as the ferocity has spread, the fastest evacuation in modern times.

Later on March 16, President Biden declared America would provide an additional 800M dollars in security aid to Kyiv to help defend against Russian assault. That would make a sum of 2B dollars in such support since he took office. Nearly 1.01B dollars in assistance has been delivered in the past week.
The new $800M package includes:
– 800 anti-aircraft systems
– 9,000 anti-armor systems
– 7,000 small arms
– 20 Million rounds
– Unmanned aerial systems

The package includes eight hundred Stinger anti-air systems to halt the helicopters and planes firing on Ukrainians, Joe Biden told media, as well as man-portable rocket launchers, 100 grenade launchers, machine guns, and other military hardware, including drones.
