Jake Ellzey, freshman Texas Rep., got the victory in all-Republican House special voting runoff in the Sixth Congressional District of the state, favoring the widow of the late Republican Don Wright (Susan Wright). Rep. Wright was died in February from Coronavirus while having cancer that boosted the election in his favor.
While both contenders in the poor-turnout voting were holding identical values and emphasizing former American President Donald Trump’s ‘America First policy, the last phases of the campaign partly concentrated on Donald Trump’s authorization of Wright, and the confrontation was perceived as popular vote on former President Trump’s undergoing clout in the Republican party, around 6 months after his leaving from the office.
The former American President is still dominant, influential, and popular with the GOP voters as he plays a significant kingmaker role in Republican politics. Matt Mackowiak, a Texas-based political advisor, described to a news agency, Fox News, that fifty-three percent to forty-seven percent success by Jake Ellzey (Navy battle pilot veteran) does raise queries about how robust Trump’s endorsement is.

With former President Donald Trump’s support just a few days ahead of the 1st May special voting, Wright had attained the first spot among twenty-three candidates. Moreover, Jake Ellzey defeated narrowly Jana Lynne Sanchez (a Democrat) for the 2nd and last place in the runoff special election in the district, which would hold some southeastern sides of Fort Worth, nearby suburbs, and exurbs, including rural regions of the south of Dallas.

Trump called on his supporters in Texas
While Susan Wright showed Donald Trump’s endorsement, Jake Ellzey celebrated the support from a number of Texas Republicans that are Rick Perry (former longtime Texas Gov.) Dan Crenshaw (a Republican and a fellow combat veteran) and Joe Barton (a former Rep. who represented the region for around three decades).
In the runoff campaign, Jake Ellzey outspent and outraised Susan Wright and was very dominant in the media. Furthermore, Susan Wright, who saw a tough time fundraising, was far away from a hostile campaigner.
Former President Trump, who kept silent during the campaign after the May race, grab momentum in the last days ahead of the runoff race.
In an automated call to voters in the district at the starting of the week, he described that, hello, this is your hopefully all-time favorite President, Trump. He added that he is asking you to vote for a great Republican, Susan Wright.
