Chris Christie, Former New Jersey Governor, has announced to launch his presidential campaign for the White House. Christie advised the campaign for Former President Trump in 2016 and has become the Former president’s huge critic in recent months. Sources claim the Former governor will launch his campaign from the Republican side next week. There is already a crowd from the Republicans for the White House’s Boss.
Sixty years old, Christie is going to enter the race as a decided underdog because the poll conducted from 9 to 15 May shows only one percent of Republicans prefer the former governor for the 2024 Presidential nominee. He ran his campaign for the White House in 2016 but failed to get much attraction in a big competition where Trump was also a participant and stood victorious. Christie started supporting Former president Trump since then till 2020.
Christie also served as a federal prosecutor and only considered himself as a potential candidate to aggressively challenge Donald Trump, the current front-runner for the nomination. The Former Governor was a friend and advisor to Mr. Trump, and he broke with him and became his biggest critic since Trump refused to accept the 2020 election results. Christie dropped out the race day after finishing sixth in New Hampshire’s primary.
Sources familiar with the matter said that Christie would finish all the speculations about his decision on the presidential run and officially launch his campaign on Tuesday. He will launch his campaign at a town hall at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. Former Prosecutor urged his party to move forward from Trump’s false claims that the 2020 elections were rigged. Chris called Trump’s claims “baseless.”
Christie Wrote a Book “Republican Rescue”
Christie wrote a book, “Republican Rescue,” to demonstrate his views and claimed to save the party from truth deniers, conspiracy theories, and destructive policies of President Joe Biden. He said the book would damage Trump’s voter strength and popularity. Chris can get support from some Republicans through this book.
In March, the Former governor announced he would not vote for Trump in 2024 even if the former president were the Republican nominee. He also expressed in a Republican appearance that he has the guts and willingness to challenge and fight face-to-face with aggressive Trump.
There is a list of participants joining the 2024 presidential run from the Republican side, including Donald Trump. Former Vice President Mike Pence and New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu are heavyweights from the Republican side. Some of the other names are Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison, and biotech entrepreneur and “anti-woke” activist Vivek Ramaswamy.
The nominee would confront President Joe Biden, who has announced his re-election bid from the Democrats, and there is no significant opposition from his intraparty. Christie, a Former Governor from New Jersey who served two terms under the Democratic party, was known for his bold and engaging personality. He was previously seen as a promising Republican figure who had the ability to attract support from both sides of the political spectrum.
Christie’s second term became dusty because of the New Jersey “Bridgegate” scandal. He was blamed for deliberately closing lanes at heavily trafficked George Washington Bridge using his allies only to avenge a local mayor who refused to support Christie for re-election for Governorship of New Jersey.
