Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, is expected to declare his candidacy next week for the US Presidential Election in 2024 next week. It is much anticipated that DeSantis might be the party’s new face in wrestling with former president Donald Trump. According to a Republican source, DeSantis is hoped to officially announce his candidacy for a political position in his hometown of Dunedin, Florida, after filing the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission next week. The source also indicates that the Governor may begin a soft launch of his campaign as early as Wednesday, which coincides with the submission of paperwork.
However, another insider stated that the plans could still be changed, as Governor DeSantis is known for making sudden transitions even to those in his inner circle. Moreover, DeSantis is well-conscious about keeping information secret, so he may decide to alter the initial plan to throw off media outlets that have already leaked details about his impending announcement. The source further said that with Ron DeSantis, there has always been a possibility of changing plans.
The campaign process has already started, and many of DeSantis’ donors and fundraisers are called to reach South Florida. All those members are expected to be summoned to start the move for fundraising and Governor’s presidential campaign. After officially submitting the paperwork, Ron’s supporters and activists can start collecting funds on his behalf. A source claimed around 100 rooms had been booked at Four Seasons in Miami to accommodate donors and DeSantis’ sessions with his political team. The target is to collect $100,000 to $150,000 from each donor.
DeSantis and Trump, Face to Face in the Race
In the earlier part of memorial day, it was said that Governor’s political movement had been targeted six months ago. It shows DeSentis is declaring to his supporters and donors that he would directly challenge Donald Trump in the next election, but Polling results show that Former President Trump is still in the lead. But DeSentis lost momentum during the uncontrolled rollout of his movement, in which the release of a book and a foreign tour was included. The launch of Super PAC, the appearance of dozens of local GOP fundraisers, and a donor retreat near Trump’s mar-a-Lago are also reasons for slowing down the speed of DeSentis’s movement.
Florida’s Governor sometimes stumbled because of making poor remarks about the Russia-Ukraine war, and his clash with Disney entered the second year. His allies believe his fame will rise once he officially announces his presidential candidacy, challenges Trump, and shares his plans and visions for the nation. A news agency claims that DeSantis told his supporters and donors that only three candidates are worthy of fighting for the presidential seat. He mentioned himself, President Joe Biden, and Donald Trump, but he said only he and Biden have the ability to win.
