On Sunday, Greg Abbott (Texas Governor) said that ‘open border policies’ of President Joe Biden are not just encouraging illicit immigration to America but also empowering and enriching drug cartels in Mexico who profit from smuggling migrants to the United States.

Gov. Greg Abbott described to Maria Bartiromo (anchor of Sunday Morning Futures) that he visited the border earlier week and had a meeting with border patrol officers who explained that they warned the Joe Biden administration that President’s new border policies would create a huge surge in illicit immigration. Moreover, he explained that patrol officers think the number of migrants coming to the U.S. border will only ramp up in the incoming months.

But Greg Abbott highlighted that it is not only the number of migrants that show concern to the state and overall humanitarian disaster. Furthermore, he described that the Border Patrol officers explained to him that the Joe Biden administration and its policies, they are empowering; they are enriching the drug cartels in Mexico who make money off of the people that they help in smuggling into Texas.

He further explained to Bartiromo that the cartels make money off of these migrants that viewers watch on TV. Moreover, he also said patrol officers described him that there have already been 110,000 arrests in the Rio Grande Valley Sector in this year, crossing the 90,000 total in the sector from the earlier year.

Migrants include criminals

Among 110,000 apprehensions, he said patrol officers tracked 800 criminal aliens who had already been captured and deported from America, 62 gang members, and 78 sex offenders. Besides this, the apprehensions include MS-13 gangs.

In reaction to the increase in migrants and cartel smuggling, Gov. Abbot explained that Texas state started Operation Lone Star. He said that the operation runs to avoid the cartels from bringing across the border the most hazardous criminal elements as well as the opioids that they are struggling to smuggle across the border.

While such an increase in migrants and cartel smuggling cause big challenges on their own, Gov. Abbott said that there have been some migrants who came at the U.S border contracted with Coronavirus.

Governor Abbot explained that they expect that data, and they expect the Joe Biden administration to step up and help the Texas state in being able to respond to that imported challenge, imported just because of the President’s change in policies.
