Ninety-six dead bodies were retrieved from the condo collapse at Surfside, Florida, but the official death toll stands at ninety-seven because one person died at the hospital.
Although weeks of rescue and search efforts have been made, no indications of life were traced past the morning of the Surfside condo’s downfall on 24th June.
Albeit the location is crucially empty, a person thought to be in the condo at the time of collapse that still hasn’t been accounted for.
Concrete and rubble have been removed from the main location to an off-site location, which redeemers are still continuing to clear.
Twenty-six million pounds of concrete and rubble were shifted from the condo location to another site to create ease while searching other bodies.

Root cause is still unknown
The root causes of the building collapse are still unknown; two big parts of the twelve-story building collapsed on 24th June at around 01:30 AM. Rescue and search teams instantly began searching through the debris but usually dealt with difficulties. The rubble was very unbalanced at the starting time of the search operations, while a blaze hampered search struggles, and teams even had to halt at one point due to lightning in the region.
Furthermore, the search operations and other efforts immediately ramped up after a stable part of the condo was destroyed on 4 July, but it was already cleared at that time when there would not be any survivors escaped from the debris.
On July 7, authorities knew that fact at the time, when the rescue and search operation officially transitioned to a rescue mission.
Local authorities pledged an entire probe would take place after search and rescue efforts reached an end, but investigations into the reason for the destruction could be deferred since the Surfside location remains an active crime scene.
