On Thursday, Joe Biden (the United States President) and Jill Biden (First Lady) are going to Surfside, Florida, where rescue and search actions were halted overnight, at the location of a partially vandalized condo building.
Early Thursday, after leaving the White House, the Bidens reached nearby Miami International Airport aboard Air Force One. On the same day, in a press briefing, Daniella Levine Cava (Miami-Dade County Mayor) described that action to stop rescue and search operations.
Levine Cava explained that they were forced to stop search and rescue operations on the collapse in the starting hours of the morning due to structural concerns about the standing structure. She said that they are doing everything that they can to make sure the safety of their first responders is dominant and to continue their rescue and search operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
Alan Cominsky (Miami-Dade County Fire Chief) underlined the hazardous nature of the efforts to search people who may still be alive under the damaged condo building.
On Thursday, at a news briefing, he further explained that on the south side of the building, near the south and north corners of the structure, it could create more failure to the building.

Florida Gov. admired Biden’s arrival
While sitting with regulators for a briefing, Joe Biden (Democratic President) headed to the right and touched Ron DeSantis (Florida Governor and a Republican), and described that it is real important, he is talking to everybody to come together, and this is life and death. In response, DeSantis said thank you, Mr. President, and you recognized the severity of this disaster from the first day, and you have been very supportive.
On Thursday, in a separate meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida, Florida Gov. DeSantis avoided a news reporter’s query on whether he thought President Joe Biden’s success in the 2020 presidential race was rigged. American courts all across the country have declined Republicans’ accusations that Joe Biden’s success was the consequence of a fraudulent election.
Late Wednesday, local officials described that the death toll from the vandalized condo building had surged to eighteen that even include two kids.
